Mechanical protection devices, such as covers, barriers, or enclosures have so far been installed to ensure operator safety.
Although these measures protected the employees during maintenance or changeover in the isolated work areas, it also inevitably
meant that plant operation had to be stopped. More flexible and economic solutions had to be found to allow employees to work
in safety areas and to ensure system operation.
SEW-EURODRIVE provides integrated safety technology for the decentralized MOVIFIT® drive control to meet these requirements. PROFINET/ PROFISAFE offers the user safety technology in combination with a future-oriented
fieldbus system. The big advantage of this technology is that users do not need a separate safety controller and cabling.
The PROFISAFE functionality is integrated in MOVIFIT®as option with the designation S11.
